| Choc Bay stretches along the west coast of St. Lucia just north of Castries, its calm, sheltered water backed by a broad ribbon of soft sand and coconut palms. Halcyon Beach is the best-known section of the bay - long favoured by Europeans for its laid-back atmosphere and easy access to both the capital and the northern resort area of Rodney Bay.
The bay's tropical gardens, Caribbean-style architecture and gentle surf make it one of the most photogenic beaches on the island. Days here are spent swimming in the warm water, walking the palm-lined shore, or heading out on a catamaran cruise up the coast toward the Pitons.
The surrounding area offers plenty for evening enjoyment - a mix of restaurants, beach bars and small nightclubs, plus easy taxi access to the shops, markets and cathedrals of downtown Castries just a few minutes to the south. |
